*I've got twenty minutes till I have to get to class and I still need to go by starbucks and get some hot tea so I have to write this quickly! So quickly in fact that i'm going to begin this blog with an old oral report trick we used to use to "grab our listeners" and later made fun of for it's lack of creativity....
Imagine yourself outside your favorite store. Your senses are alive with the anticipation of total fulfillment as you walk through the doors, seeing hearing and smelling all of your favorite things. Your eyes widen partly from the bright lights and partly from all they have to take in. You are in your element and you are about to spend lots and lots of money.
This is what occurs to me as I walked to Forever21 last week. I am convinced that God inspired that store just for me. That same feeling occurs the moment I pass through the doors of Barnes and Noble. I just love that moment that occurs just as you see the store, just as your body passes through it's doors and you are washed with potential. I like to walk in the doors, breathe deep and smell the possibility.
With Barnes and noble it's a bit different because when i breathe in i can smell intellectual possibility, i can imagine all the words and voices that float around it's wide room emanating from each book. With Forever 21 it's a completely different possibility. It's the possibility that I'm going to find my every fashion desire.
In whatever form, possibility smells good.
*and now i must end abruptly and dash off for there are less then 15 minutes for me to get tea and get to class!

As my horn goes "toot toot"
Yes, I have a cousin in show biz.
Exciting, I know.
And once his name becomes a household one, I will consider adding his last name (my mom's maiden name) Polaha-to my list of names, somewhere there in the middle.
Until then I'm going to promote his shows like crazy, with the disclaimer that his current one probably isn't the greatest thing to watch as the intro for it goes something like...
"from the irreverent mind of ashton kutcher"
but none the less Kristopher Polaha is named in the main characters so I am very excited to shout my relation to him.
This isn't the first time I've pulled the "famous cousin" card.
He's starred in a made-for-tv movie on TBS before and had a full page add in People with only his face to advertise it.
So...hehe...*polishes nails on sleeve* I'm related to somewhat of a celebrity.
Which makes me...kind of a big deal.
Yeah.
So ABC, tomorrow night 10:30-special preview of "Miss Guided" starring Kristopher Polaha as Tim O'Malley (? i think i got that last name right)
He's good looking for sure
*puts on shades*
but we all know where he got that from
;)

HUNNY
It was a fine spring morning in the forest as he started out. Little soft clouds played happily in a blue sky, skipping from time to time in front of the sun as if they had come to put it out, and then sliding away suddenly so that the next might have his turn. Through them and between them the sun shone bravely; and a copse which had worn its firs all the year round seemed old and dowdy now beside the new green lace which the beeches had put on so prettily.
That was an exert from p.48 in "The World of Pooh" my first read of Spring break 2008.
Spring break is the perfect time to read, no homework/good weather.
I thought that the perfect thing to start my spring break reading off with would be "The World of Pooh"- all of the stories written by A. A. Milne in which Pooh and all his wonderfully imaginative friends get into mix ups and go on explorations and so on and so forth.
On Thursday I enjoyed the seasons first thoughts of spring outside in front of Panera with book in hand and breezed through the first 200 something pages, leaving only a few to savor this morning. And as I read I found myself laughing out loud at Milne's sense of wit and colorful characters that win your heart the moment you read his introduction.
I thought in this blog I would include one such funny exert that I know you will enjoy and maybe even entice you to read the book as well, for though it is a children's book, like most good children's books, it is written with adult wit in mind and thats the best kind of read...
p.88-89 of "The World of Pooh"
oh first, let me set it up...Rabbit (the know-it-all, snobby one of all the characters) has decided that he doesn't much like having Kanga and Roo around (for no real good reason, he's just not a fan of change) and so this is his plan to rid the Hundred Acre Wood of Kanga and Roo, ok.
"The best way," said Rabbit, "would be this. The best way would be to steal Baby Roo and hide him, and then when Kanga says, 'Where's Baby Roo?' we say, Aha!'"
"Aha!" said Pooh, practising. "Aha! Aha!...Of course," he went on, "we could say 'Aha!' even if we hadn't stolen Baby Roo."
"Pooh," said Rabbit kindly, "you haven't any brain."
"I know," said Pooh humbly.
"We say 'Aha!' so that Kanga knows that we know were Baby Roo is. 'Aha!' means 'We'll tell you where Baby Roo is, if you promise to go away from the Forest and never come back.' Now don't talk while I think."
Pooh went into a corner and tried saying "Aha!' in that sort of voice. Sometimes it seemed to him that it did mean what Rabbit said, and sometimes it seemed to him that it didn't. "I suppose it's just practice, " he thought. "I wonder if Kanga will have to practise too so as to understand it."
Milne was given the idea to write these stories by his wife who told him to base them off of the stuffed animals their son, Christopher Robin, owned. Milne writes two beautiful dedications in this book (as the copy i own is a combination of two books) one of which is very endearing and is what i will leave you with...
"You gave me Christopher robin, and then
You breathed new life in Pooh.
Whatever of each has left my pen
Goes homing back to you.
My book is ready, and comes to greet
The mother it longs to see--
It would be my present to you, my sweet,
If it weren't your gift to me."

backflash
Just now i Bit my Lip
and
everytime i do that
or see someone else do it
without fail
my minds
eye
is looking at the face
of my
best friend growing up
her name was
"Abby Heifner"
I've spent many many internet searches
trying to find her
and
keep in
Touch
she was my favorite friend growing up
and
moved away when i was
12
i really truly loved her
and
haven't seen her since
so maybe
she'll google search her own
name
one day and find
this blog
and put an end
to all
the re-occuring
re-
union
dreams
i
have.

Theif!
Good news
I've spent this long hiatis of non-blog writing, coming up with new subjects to blog about!
So no fear, one of my many goals over spring break is to get back into the habit of more faithfully blogging.
I found a great blog name the other day
"Pink is the new blog"
I like that and would steal it if it wasn't already taken, of course now you're thinking, that wouldn't be stealing if it wasn't being used already.
You're right.
Good job
Maybe you should write a blog too, since you're so smart.
Geez.
